Lumara VISO red light therapy face mask, FDA 510(k) cleared

Our picks by body area

Best Red Light Therapy Devices for Home (2026): Our Picks by Body Area

The short answer: The best red light therapy devices share three features backed by research: studied wavelengths (red at 630 to 660 nm for skin, near infrared at 810 to 850 nm for muscles and joints), enough power at a stated distance, and full coverage of the area you treat. Our top picks: Lumara VISO for the face (FDA 510(k) cleared, 5 minute sessions), the Nicebeam LumaSpectrum 9 Pro for full body use (nine wavelengths), and red plus near infrared wraps like the Leg Wrap Pro and Therapy Belt for muscles and joints.

How we chose

We started with the body area, not the brand

Then we compared every device on the same points.

Wavelengths.

Red light (630 to 660 nm) for the skin. Near infrared (810 to 1060 nm) for deeper tissue like muscles and joints.

Power at a stated distance.

Irradiance only means something with the distance it was measured at.

Coverage.

How much of the target area the device treats in one session.

Certification.

FDA 510(k) clearance and FDA registration are different. We say which one each device has.

Warranty and ease of use.

Session length, timer, cordless or corded, and the years of warranty.

Reviews and research.

We went through nearly 2,000 customer reviews and the clinical studies behind each body area.

Face

Best red light therapy for the face

Red light helps the skin produce more collagen. In a controlled trial with 136 volunteers, twice weekly red light sessions improved skin roughness, collagen density and wrinkles.[1]

A mask is the easiest way to get that light onto your whole face. It sits close to the skin, so every area gets the same dose.

Watch

Why LED density matters in a mask

In this video, the founder of Lumara shows how the VISO works.

He points to two things that make a mask work: how strong each light is and how many LEDs it has.

The VISO packs 470 micro LEDs at 660 nm with no gaps between them. So the light covers your whole face evenly, not in patches.

Buyer checklist

What to look for in a red light therapy device

  • Start with the body area. Face, full body or one joint. That decides the format.
  • Check the wavelengths. Red for the skin. Near infrared for muscles and joints. Many devices combine both.
  • Read power with distance. A figure in mW/cm² is only useful next to the distance it was measured at.
  • Know the certification. FDA 510(k) clearance means the device was reviewed for a specific use. FDA registration means it is listed with the FDA.
  • Pick a routine you'll keep. Results come from regular use, so session length and comfort matter.

Our red light therapy buying guide explains each point in detail.

Safety

Red light therapy at home is well tolerated. Don't look directly into the LEDs, and use the included eye protection. Some medications and conditions make skin more sensitive to light, so check with your doctor or pharmacist. If you are pregnant, or have cancer or active skin lesions in the area, talk to your doctor first. Follow the manual for distance, session length and frequency.

Frequently asked questions

Best red light therapy device FAQs

The best device uses studied wavelengths, states its power at a set distance and covers the whole area you want to treat. Our top picks are the Lumara VISO for the face, the Nicebeam LumaSpectrum 9 Pro for the full body and the Nicebeam Full Body Mat if you prefer to lie down.

Four things: wavelengths (630 to 660 nm red, 810 to 850 nm near infrared), irradiance with the distance it was measured at, coverage of your target area and certification. Our red light therapy buying guide explains each one.

A legit device lists its exact wavelengths, its irradiance at a stated distance, its certification (FDA 510(k) cleared or FDA registered) and a written warranty. If a brand hides those numbers, choose another device.

For the face, yes. A mask sits close to the skin, so the whole face gets the same dose. Lumara VISO is FDA 510(k) cleared for full face wrinkles. A panel is the better choice when you also want to treat the body. Compare both in our red light panel vs mask guide.

For the face, the Lumara VISO mask. For face and body, the Lumara Illuminate Red V2 panel, with 1,980 micro LEDs at 660 nm.

Look for a measured EMF figure with its distance. The Nicebeam LumaSpectrum 9 Pro measures 0.05 µT at 6 inches and the Full Body Mat 0.1 µT at 6 inches.

Buy from an authorized retailer, so your warranty is valid. Every device in this guide is sold by Kinaura Life and includes the manufacturer's written warranty.

Yes, for eligible devices. Lumara VISO and the Lumara Pad are HSA and FSA eligible.
